Folks are thought of to have a Main EBV infection if they may have anti-VCA IgM but do not need antibody to EBNA. Other benefits that strongly recommend a Key infection absolutely are a high or increasing amount of anti-VCA IgG and no antibody to EBNA immediately after at least 4 weeks of disease.
